A group of NRC students and staff, including Marlee Reece, Dallas Houghton, CJ Stephens, Dawson Terrell, and Mrs. Smith, attended the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy clinic, which provided free dental care to 500 patients. Dallas assisted in oral surgery before helping in restorative care, where CJ, Dawson, Marlee, and Mrs. Smith worked primarily on cavity treatments alongside 35 dentists, many of whom were OU dental students. As the number of dental assistants dwindled, our students stepped up, receiving hands-on training from dental students. They worked tirelessly from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM with only a brief lunch break, yet the kids remained dedicated and eager to learn. Their willingness to help and enthusiasm for the experience made us all incredibly proud, and some even joked they could now fill a cavity themselves!
